Description
Steam escapes from the nose of the locomotive prior to the departure from South Station in Boston, MA., August 31, 1952. Though the "steam" engine was retired, steam was still necessary for heating/cooling purposes, so a steam generator in the engine compartment was utilized to handle the duty and always added to the photos of classic passenger trains.
